Workers’ Policy
Updated 22 April 2025
Briefly
Rlab is committed to working with people in a way that’s fair, respectful, and clear. Everyone—whether a collaborator or employee—is supported through transparent agreements, equitable pay, flexible work, and open communication. Rlab fosters a culture of inclusion, autonomy, wellbeing, and shared responsibility.
-
Rlab (Rettore Lab) builds digital tools that turn complexity into clarity. Our mission is to create high-performance, scalable services that launch fast, adapt quickly, and solve real problems. Our values — Innovation, Velocity, Precision, and Experimentation — shape everything we do, from how we design software to how we collaborate as a team.
This Workers’ Policy applies to all individuals working with Rlab — whether you’re an external collaborator on a short-term mission or a future full-time team member. We aim to provide clarity, protect fairness, and foster a shared purpose across all working relationships.
We believe policies should support great work, not get in the way of it. That means clear expectations, supportive structures, and space to grow.
-
Dignity & Respect
Every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and included at work. We commit to a workplace free from discrimination, intimidation, or marginalization.
Fair Work
We strive for fair compensation, transparent terms, and mutual clarity on scope and goals. We’re committed to equitable treatment regardless of role or type of collaboration.
Shared Responsibility
Rlab thrives when workers are trusted to own their time and decisions. Innovation grows from freedom, feedback, and shared accountability.
Sustainable Work
Our best work happens when our minds and bodies are well. We promote thoughtful work rhythms, space for rest, and mental wellbeing practices as part of our everyday culture.
-
This policy is designed to comply with:
The Italian Civil Code (Codice Civile), including key labor protections
EU labour law and directives, particularly around pay transparency, equal treatment, and digital work
ILO Conventions and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, including freedom of association, fair conditions, and social dialogue
The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
We explicitly align with global principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, human dignity, anti-harassment, sustainability, and worker voice. This is not just legal compliance — it’s cultural alignment.
-
Contracts & Pay
Every worker at Rlab — whether freelance or employed — receives a written agreement clearly defining responsibilities, timelines, pay, and review criteria. We follow pay equity principles and support transparency in compensation.
Ownership & IP
Work done as part of your agreement with Rlab belongs to Rlab unless a different arrangement is made upfront. We support open-source contributions and side projects, with clarity and respect for boundaries.
Work Tools
We use a flexible, evolving set of tools built for speed, clarity, and asynchronous collaboration. You’ll get access to what you need, when you need it, and we welcome feedback on our stack.
Time & Autonomy
Our working style is results-driven and async-friendly. We care more about impact than hours — and trust workers to manage their own time within project needs.
-
Feedback & Voice
We grow through dialogue. Suggestions, insights, and critiques are welcome at any time via rettorelab.com/feedback. We’ll listen and respond.
Recognition
We celebrate meaningful contributions. You may be acknowledged in retros, product updates, changelogs, or launch credits — depending on the project and your involvement.
Experimentation Culture
Rlab is a place to test new ideas. We support experimentation with new approaches, even when the outcomes are uncertain. Learnings are always valuable.
Boundaries & Wellbeing
We encourage everyone to protect their time, set healthy boundaries, and disconnect regularly. That includes respecting others’ availability and recovery time.
-
We want this policy to feel real — so here are some day-to-day expectations:
Starting Work
Onboarding starts with tool access, project context, and a contact person to guide your first week. You’ll be invited to intros, async docs, and anything else you need to get moving confidently.
Feedback in Action
We do retros at the end of each sprint or cycle — and you can also leave feedback anytime. You don’t have to wait for permission to speak up.
When Something Feels Off
If a task is unclear, the workload feels heavy, or something seems out of scope — raise it. Your point of contact or PM will help. If needed, talk to ops — we want to fix things early.
Taking Time Off
Everyone needs downtime. If you’re planning time offline, just give a heads-up. We’ll plan around it. If you’re tired or burned out, tell us — we’ll support you.
Project Delivery
We always aim for a clear “done.” That means agreed deliverables, proper handoff, and a thank-you. We want closure to feel good.
Conflict Mediation Path
First, bring the issue to your project lead or ops team. If needed, a neutral mediator will be brought in to facilitate a resolution. Mediation is confidential, voluntary, and grounded in mutual respect. Outcomes will be documented and followed up.
-
Zero Tolerance
Discrimination or harassment of any kind is not tolerated. That includes but is not limited to bias based on race, gender identity, age, disability, orientation, religion, neurotype, or background.
Accessibility
We work to ensure our digital tools, processes, and communications are inclusive from day one. Accessibility isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of our quality standards.
Representation
Diverse perspectives lead to better products. We commit to increasing representation in our hiring, leadership, partnerships, and community.
Support Channels
If you experience or witness harm, exclusion, or misconduct, speak up. You’ll be met with respect, confidentiality, and timely action. We’re here to make things better.

This policy is a living document — one that evolves alongside Rlab’s growth and your feedback. We’re building something that lasts, and that means questioning, improving, and co-creating a better way of working together.
If you have ideas, concerns, or want to help us make this better, you’re invited to the conversation.
Thank you for being part of Rlab.
